Luella Marie Coleman, 102, of Jackson Center, passed away at 12:24 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at The Gardens in Wapakoneta. She was born in Shelby County on Dec. 31, 1914, to the late Lawrence John and Louise Metz Mann.
On July 24, 1941, Luella married Virgil “Floyd” Coleman, and he preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1995. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene Burch; a sister, Lorena Elsass; and two brothers, Nelson and Raymond Mann.
Luella is survived by her son, Alvin (Linda) Coleman; four granddaughters; three grandsons; seven great-granddaughters; six great-grandsons; a great-great-granddaughter; seven nieces; and four nephews.
A homemaker, Luella was a member of the Jackson Center Senior Citizens and Grace Lutheran Church in Jackson Center, where she had served in Circle 1. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, playing cards, jigsaw puzzles, fishing and traveling to visit family and friends. Luella had also volunteered her time to sew gowns for area hospice organizations.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 6, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 214 W. Pike St., Jackson Center. Pastor Mike Tamorria officiates a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, at Grace Lutheran Church, 607 S. Main St., Jackson Center. Burial follows in Shelby Memory Gardens in Sidney.
