First responders tend to motorists and a horse following a two-vehicle injury crash involving a pickup hauling a horse trailer and a car about 2:50 p.m. Wednesday on County Road 1 (Ludlow Road) at State Route 245. Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report Ann Frieders, 22 of Quincy, was operating the eastbound pickup pulling the horse trailer on S.R. 245. Carrie Hembree, 40 of Lakeview, was operating a southbound car on C.R. 1. Ms. Hembree reportedly failed to yield at the stop sign and struck Freiders pickup, which then traveled off of the right side of the road and struck a utility pole. The horse trailer overturned. Ms. Hembree was transported by Macochee EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital, and was cited for failure to yield. Ms. Frieders was not transported. One of the horses was transported to the Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center, with unknown severity of injuries. Damage was heavy to both vehicles. Bellefontaine Fire and EMS, West Liberty Police officers and troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene. (EXAMINER PHOTOS | T.J. HUBBARD) |
