Pearl Thomas “Tom” Fults Jr., 83, of Kenton, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Heartland of Bellefontaine.
He was born Jan. 25, 1934, to the late Pearl Thomas Sr. and Eva Sargent Fults. He also was preceded in death by a brother, William “Bill” Fults.
He married Betty Whitmore on April 22, 1956, and she preceded him in death April 29, 1982. To this marriage were born Judy Hamilton of Bellefontaine, Janet (James) Brussow of Texas and Joyce (Tim) Moore of Kenton.
He married Dolores Fitzpatrick on Nov. 24, 1985, and she also survives in Kenton. Her children are Jodi Fitzpatrick and Greg (Patty) Fitzpatrick, both of Belle Center, Darla (Kevin) Moore of Bellefontaine and TJ (Anne) Fitzpatrick of Virginia.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Christina (Adam) Haudenschield, Casey (Danielle) Hamilton, Renee (Rob) Miller, Natasha (Chad Conley) Moore, Dustin (Erin) Moore and Kaitlyn Brussow; great-grandchildren, Shaina and Cadyn Hamilton, SkyLynn Vogel and Monetego Miller; stepgrandchildren, Kaylie Deardorff, Chelsey (Matt) Whitaker, Megan Fitzpatrick, Heather Fitzpatrick, Michael Robinson Jr., Jamie Potter and Collin Potter; eight great-stepgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Ellen Fults, Norma Kerns, Mildred Sanders, Patty (John) Smith and Ruth (Doug) Smith; and brothers-in-law, Ron (April) Smith and Jay (Gabby) Dyer.
He served in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic and a jet mechanic instructor from 1953 to1957. He worked at International Car, Shoreline and retired from Silver Creek Supply. He also owned and operated Thomas’ Tavern in Kenton. But his heart was in farming his entire life.
He was a Lynn Township Trustee for 16 years. He also served on BKP board 11 years.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon Friday, May 5, at Schindewolf-Stout-Crates Funeral Home in Kenton. A graveside service begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday in Norman Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Lawler officiating and full military rites provided by Kenton AMVETS Post 1994.
