Paul Adam Shoe, 90 of Bellefontaine passed away suddenly on Monday, April 26, 2021 at his residence.
Paul was born December 12, 1930 in DeGraff to the late Park and Nellie (Plum) Shoe. On July 29, 1950 in Bellefontaine, he married the love of his life Joan Neil Detrick, who preceded him in death December 1, 2005.
Paul Graduated from DeGraff High School in 1948. He went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War era. After his time in the service he returned to the Logan County area where he worked for over 25 years for Prudential Insurance Company as a salesman. Paul enjoyed gardening and selling the sweet corn he grew. Many times recruiting his children and grandchildren to make the sales. He also enjoyed fixing cars and lawnmowers, many of them he resold. Paul was very proud to lay claim to the fact that one of his 1941 Plymouth’s made it into a Hollywood movie, the Public Eye. He was a Member of the Bellefontaine Presbyterian Church for many years, the Bellefontaine Masonic Lodge #209 and a Member of the Logan County Genealogy Society. Being part of the Logan County Genealogy Society he had a passion for researching his family tree. In his research he later found out that his descendants were one of the first families in Logan County, commonly prompting him to inform any one he met that they might be related. Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children, Pamela (Rusty) Latimer and Steven (Darlene) Shoe; grandchildren, Nancy “Joni” (Brad) Orders, Jennifer (Josh) Wilcoxon, Daniel (Meghan) Ashcraft, Amanda (Ryan) Montgomery, Randy (Shaniqua) Shoe, Jacob (Kaitlyn Dalzall) Shoe, Emily (Jon) Hand, Jeremy (Abraham Perez) Hand, Tatianna (Matt) Powell, Stephanie (Chuck) Bland, Tracy (Scott) Johns and Tonya (Dale) Mabry; 18 great grandchildren; son-in-law, Mark Hand; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Joan Neil Shoe; children, Patty Hand and Ronnie Shoe; granddaughter, Nikki Lynn Shoe; brothers, Eugene Shoe and Raymond Shoe.
A Private Family Graveside Service will take place at a later date.
