David Luciano, 53, of Lakeview, was charged Tuesday, March 25, with falsification and arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear following a traffic stop executed by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department in the area of north Madriver Street and east Brown Avenue.
Police initially were dispatched around 8:15 p.m. to the area of Speedy Mart, 511 S. Main St., in reference to a domestic dispute between the defendant and another individual. While en route, dispatch informed officers that the couple had left that location in a silver Chevrolet Impala. Officers observed a vehicle matching that description leaving the area and initiated the stop.
Upon making contact with the occupants the defendant was observed in the front passenger seat without a seat belt on. He told police he did not have any identification with him, and provided police with a name, date of birth and a Florida address.
Officers quickly learned the defendant had provided false information and were able to verify his correct identification and address.
Luciano did ultimately admit to having provided false identification and said he lied about his identity because he knew he had an arrest warrant. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
