A defendant imprisoned on drug charges and for providing false information to law enforcement were among the cases handled recently in Logan County Common Pleas Court.
Phillip Wallace, 39, of Bellefontaine, was sentenced to 12 months in prison and ordered to pay court costs for fifth-degree felony counts of identity fraud and breaking and entering.
The charges stem in part from an investigation by officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department from March of 2023 into suspicious activity in the area of Powell Avenue and north Detroit Street.
Wallace was one of two suspects in a van idling along Powell Avenue with the rear doors of the van open around 3 a.m.
Woman sentenced for bulk methamphetamine
Barbara Patrick, 43, of Bainbridge, was sentenced to three years of community control and ordered to pay court costs for aggravated possession of drugs, a third-degree felony.
She was originally charged with possession of methamphetamine (bulk) and trafficking in methamphetamine during a traffic stop by officers of the Washington Township Police Department last May.
Officers conducted a traffic stop about 9 p.m. on State Route 235 near Township Road 215 for a turn signal violation.
Upon making contact with the occupants, signs of drug use were observed. A Jackson Center Police Department K9 was deployed and alerted to the odor of illegal drugs inside of the vehicle.
During a probable cause search of the vehicle, a large amount of methamphetamine was located. Patrick admitted the methamphetamine belonged to her.
Patrick was taken into custody and transported to the Logan County Jail.
