Joshua Gilbert, 33, of Lakeview, was charged with a felony count of tampering with evidence, along with possession of drugs and child endangering related to a traffic stop about 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department reportedly stopped a vehicle in the area of State Route 708 and World Class Drive for an equipment violation. Contact was made with the driver, Brandy Stelzer, 29, Lakeview and Gilbert, who was a passenger.
Stelzer was found to have an active warrant for her arrest and was asked to exit the vehicle. As she did, Gilbert reportedly exited the vehicle and threw a pipe containing methamphetamine into a nearby field.
The pipe was recovered and Gilbert was taken into custody.
Officers note that three children also were in the vehicle.
Stelzer was booked into the Logan County Jail on the warrant, and Gilbert also was transported to the jail. Family members will care for the children. Logan County Children’s Services will be contacted in regard to the child endangering offense.
