Logan County Court of Common Pleas Judge Kevin P. Braig Friday sentenced Haylee M. Parsley, 26, to a mandatory prison term of three to 4 1/2 years on her involuntary manslaughter conviction, a felony of the first degree.
The sentence was jointly recommended to the Court by Logan County Prosecutor Eric Stewart and the defendant’s counsel Jon J. Saia.
According to the State of Ohio’s filings with the Logan County Clerk of Courts, Bellefontaine Police Department officers were dispatched April 25 to a residence to check on a baby reportedly not breathing.
The baby was the defendant’s one-month-old daughter. The child was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital and subsequently was transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, where she was declared dead.
The State’s investigation determined that after drinking, the defendant and her daughter fell asleep on the couch and the defendant rolled over on the child as they slept.
