West Liberty-Salem’s girls and boys track and field teams got the postseason underway Tuesday by competing at the Division III district meet at Milton-Union High School.
Two local athletes advanced through to the regional meet in WL-Salem’s Brandon Wolfe in the long jump and Triad’s Jake McManaway in the discus.
The top four placers in each event qualify to the regional meet next week in Troy. The district meet wraps up Saturday with field events at 9:30 a.m. and running finals at 10 a.m.
Covington is holding onto a tight lead in the girls team race after scoring three events with 19 points. Botkins is right behind in second with 18 points, while Houston and Miami East are tied for third with 15 points. WL-Salem and Triad are tied for 10th with four points each.
