Green Hills Community President and CEO Mike Ray followed through Friday on a promise made to his staff following their generous donations to the United Way of Logan County throughout October.
Employees of Green Hills Community and Universal Home Health and Hospice raised $7,654 from Oct. 1 through 31. In an “Outrageous Challenge” issued by Ray, he said he would kiss a goat if the staff members raised at least $7,500 for the cause.
Friday morning, he puckered up to give “Goatee Locks” a kiss by the Green Hills Foundation Hall during an event filmed on Facebook Live.
Each year, Green Hills Community and Universal Home Health and Hospice conducts campaigns to raise money for the United Way. This year, Ray has issued his special challenge to extend his gratitude to his staff for their handling of the COVID-19 pandemic and efforts to keep residents safe.
“This past year has been an outrageous challenge for all of the staff,” he previously said.
“To show my appreciation for all the stressful hours put in by them, I am willing to perform an outrageous act if we collect a certain amount of money, in cash and pledges, for this year’s campaign.
“I think it is no surprise that this challenge is out of my comfort zone, but I am willing to do this for such a great cause that helps so many people. What could I do if $15,000 is raised?” he asked.
Since the staff members also surpassed the $5,000 fundraising mark, Ray will fulfill that challenge marker as well by wearing a tiara and feather boa Monday, Nov. 8, the same day he attends the Bellefontaine Rotary Club meeting.
