Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department are currently investigating a shooting incident that sent a 29-year-old Bellefontaine man to the hospital Wednesday evening for treatment of injuries.
Officers were notified about 9:20 p.m. that victim Joseph Ropp had walked into the Mary Rutan Hospital emergency department for treatment of a gunshot wound.
The officer working security at the hospital responded to begin the investigation.
Ropp reportedly had been shot twice, and was later transferred to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for further treatment.
Officers continued their investigation by collecting information from the victim and the victim’s girlfriend. According to the victim’s statement, he described being shot after two men approached him in the area of Smoker’s Paradise, 922 E. Sandusky Ave., at Hyland Hills Plaza.
