Benjamin Logan’s girls basketball team made a late rally against host North Union on Monday, but fell short as the Wildcats grabbed a 63-50 win in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.
The Wildcats improve to 3-0 overall and start division play at 1-0. The Raiders drop to 0-3, 0-1.
It was a closely contested first half. The Wildcats held a 16-15 lead after the first quarter and clipped the Raiders 15-14 in the second quarter to take a 31-29 advantage into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Wildcats found a scoring surge and went on 20-4 run. That boosted their lead to a 51-33 score.
Ben Logan fought back in the fourth period, getting to within seven points with two minutes remaining. However, it was not enough as the Wildcats withstood the threat and secured the victory.
Lynzee Cronkleton had a standout game for the Raiders with 25 points, while Savannah Pavoni tallied 13 points.
The Wildcats’ Journey Blevins scored a game-high 27 points.
North Union edged Ben Logan 26-22 in the junior varsity game. Kiley Daniels led the Raiders with six points.
Ben Logan is back on the court Wednesday at home against Kenton Ridge.
