Norma Jean Godwin, 84, of Belle Center, passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, in Bellefontaine.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Oct. 20, 1932, a daughter of the late Harley and Gladys Lakin Palmer. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Stevenson; and three brothers, Dan Palmer, Jim Palmer and Carroll Schultz.
On Dec. 27, 1951, she married Carl Jay “Pappy” Godwin in Bellefontaine and he preceded her in death on May 6, 2011.
She is survived by a daughter, Diana (Marvin) Lattimer of Bellefontaine; a son, Steve (Robin) Godwin of West Liberty; four grandchildren, Lyndsey Godwin, Joshua Titus, Justin Titus and Jeremy Titus; six great-grandchildren, Willow, Kain, Bella, Max, Sophia and Mea; one sister, Mary Lou Notestine of Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma Jean worked for various local businesses in the area. She was member of the First Lutheran Church in Bellefontaine and enjoyed sewing and swimming. Her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her the most joy.
Her grandchildren will lead a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, in the shelter building in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
