Jarvis M. Magee, 29, of Bellefontaine, was charged Saturday with improperly discharging a firearm in a habitation.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were called to Billy Henderson’s 868 E. Sandusky Ave., Apt. 117, apartment around 5:50 a.m. and determined there were no known gunshot victims. However, Kandale Harrison of Columbus was badly injured in a fight allegedly with Magee and was transported by a Bellefontaine squad for treatment for lacerations to the back of his head and left arm pit.
Harrison told officers he was asleep in the bedroom when he awoke to find Magee in the room with a knife. They struggled before separating when Magee produced a handgun and began shooting.
Henderson fled to a neighboring residence with her son during the altercation. After firing the shots, Magee fled the scene and stashed the handgun in a shed at Brittany Foulk’s 433 N. Elm St., residence. He turned himself in later Saturday and led officers to the handgun.
As they investigated the shooting, officers determined a bullet passed from Henderson’s apartment into a bedroom of Deborah McClain’s apartment. Her granddaughter, daughter and daughter’s boyfriend were in the bedroom at the time of the shooting but they were not injured. A bullet also passed into an upstairs apartment which was empty at the time of the shooting.
