Two new “little libraries” recently have been added to two Bellefontaine Joint Recreation District parks — Blue Jacket Park and the Friendly Paws Dog Park. Karen Brady donated both libraries in memory of her son, Matt Brady, to honor his love of reading. Karen explained at Blue Jacket Park, the first previously installed little library Hobbit House had been such a success that “it gets overly crowded and hard to see the kids’ books. So a smaller Hobbit House was built just for kids’ books next to the larger Hobbit House library,” she said. In addition, Karen related that it seemed fitting to install a little library featuring a dog house design at the dog park, “again as a way to honor Matt and our faithful fury friends.” Ray Stamm built the houses and Robyn Wunderle and Woody Amidon added their artistic touches by decorating the libraries. David Stolly painted and installed the little libraries. The libraries operate under a “take a book, leave a book premise.” Karen said she doesn’t mind if books aren’t left since she has received many donations. “I’m just so happy to see people are reading and using the little libraries.”
