Entertainment a focus of 2016 event
Logan County Relay For Life organizers are gearing up for the 2016 Relay season with several upcoming events and a number of new ideas for activities with two new co-chairs heading the planning committee.
Bellefontaine area residents Aaron Taylor and Emily Shreve have stepped up to lead the festivities this year, members said Tuesday evening at the Relay team meeting at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center.
Mr. Taylor is a longtime Relay supporter and a thyroid cancer survivor, while Mrs. Shreve was the 2015 Logan County Relay For Life honorary co-chair and is a breast cancer survivor.
“I’m an 18-year participant in Relay, but I’m new to the committee,” Mr. Taylor said. “We’re looking at some new options for this year. Emily has some ideas as well from her involvement with the Champaign County Relay with her school, as she’s a teacher at Graham.”
The 2016 Logan County Relay For Life is slated for 6 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 17, at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center. Mr. Taylor said the entertainment committee is looking at ways to draw more children and their families to the 19th annual event.
“I’d like to see a lot more things for kids to do and get them involved,” said the father of an 8-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl and is a member of the Ashley Furniture Relay team.
