Neil P. Shough, 79, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at his home. He was born in Logan County on Feb.12, 1939, to the late Paul Shough and Beatrice Chamberlain Shough Larsen.
On Nov. 18, 1977, Neil married the former Bonnie Zimmel-Hurley in Bellefontaine, and she survives, along with his four children, Melanie (Darrel) Godwin, Jeffrey (Joyce) Shough, Kathleen (Jim) Whitehead and Ryan (Alisa) Shough; four stepchildren, Bill Hurley, Tamara (Stu) Jenkins, Brian Hurley and J Sterling (Louie Rosado) Hurley; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Hendershott; a brother, Dan (Fran) Shough; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his brother, Rocky Shough; and a nephew, Stoney.
Neil was a hard worker who drove semi-truck most of his career, retiring from Nash Finch in December 2001. He had worked at Airstream in Jackson Center for a period of time as well as help build the Seventh day Adventist Church in Bellefontaine. Neil was a lover of horses and was a member of the Central Ohio Wagoneers. He enjoyed being outdoors, tinkering with anything mechanical, and especially the time he was able to spend with his DeGraff and Belle Center Amish friends.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, preceding the 7 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire is requested in Neil’s honor.
