Members of the Logan County Unified Drug Task Force conducted a narcotic enforcement operation Thursday evening in the village of West Liberty that resulted in the arrest of a Bellefontaine man on felony drug charges.
Shane Slagle, 40, was served with a warrant for trafficking in methamphetamine, a third-degree felony; and was issued new charges of aggravated trafficking, a second-degree felony; and aggravated possesion of drugs, a third-degree felony. He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Task Force members initiated a traffic stop about 6:35 p.m. in the 300 block of South Detroit St., West Liberty, and arrested the front seat passenger, Slagle, on the warrant.
Logan County Sheriff’s Office K9 Thor was deployed and alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.
A probable cause search was then conducted on the vehicle. Inside a backpack, the Task Force located 76 grams of methamphetamine, 50 30MG oxycodone/hydrochloride prescription pills.
During his transport to the jail, the defendant informed a deputy that he had illegal narcotics concealed on his person. The deputy recovered 3 grams of a suspected fentanyl from Slagle, which was contained in a plastic baggie.
He was then booked into the jail.
The Task Force continued their investigation from the traffic stop and conducted a consent search of a residence in the 500 block of north Detroit St., Bellefontaine.
During the search of the residence, members recovered 6 grams of suspected fentanyl, 6 grams of methamphetamine, 15 oxycodone/hydrochloride prescription pills and 17 Suboxone prescription pills.
The Task Force is continuing their investigation and additional charges are pending.
