Nancy Crane was born in Waynesville on Feb. 23, 1933. She and her sister, Barbara and brother, Jack were raised there by Isadora and Ethan Crane.
They moved to Centerville where she graduated from Fairmont High School in 1951. Her parents moved to Lancaster, while she was at The Ohio State University studying dental hygiene where she received her degree.
She met and married Joe Brooks in Lancaster and they raised daughters, Julie (Augsburger) and Sally (Brooks), in several towns in settling in Bellefontaine in 1971. They lived there until Joe’s retirement and spent their last years in Milford. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband Joe, parents and sister.
She dutifully raised and loved her daughters, son-in-laws and granddaughters, Julie and Kurt (daughters, Katie, Suzanne and Hannah) Augsburger and Sally and Dan (daughters, Gwen, Tess and Lydia) Krage. She was delighted to be the great grandmother of Katie’s children, Nila and Calvin.
Nancy was known as a lively and gracious person serving as hostess to many gatherings of friends. She was a lifelong Episcopalian and exemplified the Christian values of love and acceptance of all people.
A celebration of life service will be held at St Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Cincinnati at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to “Team Old Man Brooks” in The Walk to End Alzheimer’s. http://act.alz.org/site/TR?fr_id=13666&pg=personal&px=8110814.
