The National Alliance of Mental Health of Logan and Champaign Counties offers a free 12-week course and support group, “Familyto- Family,” beginning Feb. 15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Consolidated Care conference room, 1521 N. Detroit St., West Liberty.
The sessions cover information about mental health conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, and the comorbidity of substances and mental illness. Current treatments, evidence-based therapies, medications and side effects will be discussed.
The group provides critical information and strategies for taking care of the person you love. Other topics covered include how to manage crises, solve problems, communicate effectively, manage stress and develop the confidence and stamina to provide support with compassion.
