Accessing public information about Bellefontaine Municipal Court cases got much easier this week with the addition of a new online search.
The Bellefontaine Municipal Court’s website now features a link to search criminal, traffic and civil cases along with the court calendar. The public records can be accessed from the court’s site: www.ci.bellefontaine.oh.us/municipal-court.html, by clicking the gold “For Access to Court Records Click Here” link. |
Judge Ann E. Beck said court staff, led by Clerk Karla Stevens, has been preparing the online database for nearly a year-and-a-half.
She said she expects the new search to greatly reduce the number of public requests for information, which were previously handled by having a staff member look up the information and relay it verbally or via printouts to the party making the request.
“We get calls from agencies every morning wanting us to run data or do background checks, it probably takes a full-time position to keep up with it all,” Judge Beck said. “Plus attorneys, defendants and their families can see when their next court date is so we don’t have to supply that information. And another nice thing is that it’s immediate access even after hours.
“But the credit goes to Karla Stevens and her staff for making it happen. They’ve done a fantastic job.”
The new search engine is available around-the-clock from the court’s website at www.ci.bellefontaine.oh.us/municipal-court.html by clicking a gold colored link that reads “For Access to Our Court Records Click Here.”
