Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded to several crashes on icy roadways Tuesday morning
• Two crashes were reported on Township Road 185 just east of County Road 1 about 20 minutes apart.
In the first crash about 8:30 a.m., Kellie McCarthy, 28, of Raymond, reportedly was operating a westbound car when she lost control on the ice-covered road and slid off the right side and struck a mailbox.
She did not report any injuries, and damage was light to her car.
In the second crash about 8:50 a.m., Tina L. Miller, 62, of rural Bellefontaine, reportedly was operating a westbound jeep when she failed to negotiate a curve and traveled off the right side of the road and struck Ms. McCarthy’s vehicle. The jeep then overturned onto its side, causing heavy damage.
Ms. Miller was transported by Bellefontaine EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for possible injuries sustained in the crash.
Both drivers were cited for failure to control, and they each was wearing a seat belt.
• Kiersten Schienda, 20, of DeGraff, was transported by Riverside EMS to Mary Rutan Hospital for minor injuries sustained in a crash about 9:30 a.m.
She reportedly was operating a westbound car on Township Road 43 just east of State Route 235 when she lost control and drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Damage was moderate to her vehicle, which was towed from the scene.
No citations were issued in the crash. The driver was wearing her seat belt.
• Douglas Ellison, 40, of St. Paris, was cited for failure to control following a one-vehicle crash involving a Time Warner Cable van about 8:10 a.m.
He reportedly was operating the eastbound van on T.R. 190 near Kress Drive when he lost control and drove off the left side of the road and struck a mailbox. Damage was light to the vehicle.
The driver did not report any injuries, and he was wearing his seat belt.
Correction
Dakota Beech, 21, does not reside at 6553 Findlay Street, Huntsville, a resident of that property reports. He was issued a summons Sunday for possession of marijuana.>
