SWINCHER |
ADKINS |
Brittiny J. Swincher, 28, and Christopher L. Adkins, 27, both of 12039 Shannon Drive, Lakeview, were arrested Monday after they allegedly destroyed a room at Comfort Inn, 260 Northview Drive.
Each was charged with felony vandalism and misdemeanor counts of theft, criminal trespassing and public intoxication. Mr. Adkins was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, while Ms. Swincher was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and illegal possession of prescription drugs.
Officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department were first called to the motel around 9 a.m. on a report of a man crawling on the hallway floor looking for drugs. They met with Mr. Adkins and he denied the allegations. Officers also talked with Ms. Swincher. Both appeared to be under the influence of drugs, but officers had no clear evidence either abused drugs.
They agreed to return to their room and remain there until their noon checkout.
At 12:50 p.m., the motel staff called police to report the suspects would not leave.
Officers went to the room and convinced Ms. Swincher to open the door and let them in. They found both suspects disoriented and confused. Trash was thrown about the room and there was broken glass throughout, along with damaged lamps. Damage to the room included a dismantled sink in the restroom and the removal of electric socket covers, wall art, electrical cords, no smoking signs, furniture legs and seat cushions.
Methamphetamine was recovered from both suspects along with a hypodermic needle from Mr. Adkins. Prescription drugs for Ms. Swincher’s mother were found in the suspect’s purse.
Both were lodged in the Logan County Jail. Both are on probation for previous drug offenses.
