William C. Rose, 25, of 520 Township Road 184, was charged Saturday with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
He also was issued traffic citations for speeding and a marked lanes violation, officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department report.
At 2:40 a.m., an officer was patrolling in the area of Chillicothe Avenue and Main Street when he observed an eastbound car stop at green traffic light and then take off at a speed faster than the posted 25-mph limit.
The officer turned to follow the car, traveling more than 50 mph to catch up with it on Eastern Avenue and observed the car travel over the center line. He followed as Rose turned from Eastern on to Oregon Street when he was able to pace the car at more than 35 mph in a 25-mph zone.
The officer signal for a traffic stop after Rose turned onto Reservoir Road. Rose continued to Heatherhill Road before stopping. Upon contact with Rose, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and observed the motorist had bloodshot eyes. He reportedly lost he balance when he was instructed to exit the car.
He declined to participate in field sobriety test or provide a breathalyzer sample. He was released to a sober driver.
• Haley E. Roberts, 25, of 108 Walnut St., Belle Center, was charged Sunday with OVI and issued a traffic citation for a marked lanes violation.
At 2:30 a.m., Roberts was operating a car eastbound on Sandusky Avenue turn south on Lakewood Drive. Half of the car traveled over the center line and slow drift back into the correct lane.
The officer observed more lane violations before initiating a stop on Firethorn Avenue near Heatherhill Drive. Upon contact, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and observed Roberts had glossy, bloodshot eyes. She also had difficulty finding her license in her wallet passing over it even though it was in the first flap of her wallet.
She was asked to step out of the car and the officer observed she was unsteady on her feet.
Field sobriety tests indicated she was impaired and she was taken into custody. She did not provide a breathalyzer sample.
She was released to a sober driver.
• Kiana R. Reames, 22, of 419 W. Columbus Ave., West Liberty, was charged with DUI after a 2:10 a.m. traffic stop Sunday. She also was issued traffic citations for a marked lanes violation and a stop light violation.
Officers were notified of a car that sat westbound through an entire traffic cycle on Garfield Avenue at Sandusky Avenue. An officer observed it travel across the intersection and continue on Garfield. At West Street, it crossed the center line at which point the officer initiated a stop.
While talking with Reames, the officer detected an odor of alcohol and noted her eyes were bloodshot and glossy. She was asked to exit the car and perform field sobriety tests. Those tests indicated she was impaired.
She was taken into custody and her breathalyzer results were recorded at 0.098. She was released to her mother.
Warrant served
William R. Lewis, 22, of Bellefontaine, was served a failure to appear warrant on Sunday and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
