Amber M. Lawson, 34, of 242 Shady Lane Drive, was charged Sunday with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and was cited for failure to control and driving under suspension.
At 6:35 a.m., she was westbound on Eastern Avenue and hit a utility pole at Columbus Avenue, shearing it off.
She had difficulty communicating with officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department and had glassy eyes, according to reports.
Officers did not detect an odor of alcohol while talking with the motorist, but believed she was under the influence of drugs.
When asked, she admitted to taking a prescription pain reliever.
She was taken to the police department where she was observed stumbling and was unsteady on her feet.
A blood sample was taken by staff at Mary Rutan Hospital for laboratory testing.
She was arrested on a Union County warrant and was lodged in jail.
Drug charges filed
Sarah L. Alinson, 28, of 416 Linden St., was charged Sunday with possession of drug abuse instruments. Around 4:15 p.m., she was observed walking in the area and she approached an officer on patrol.
During the interaction, she was asked about any contraband because of her history of drug abuse.
She turned over a black case with hypodermic needles and other heroin-related paraphernalia.
• Stephanie E. Case, 22, of 416 E. Chillicothe Ave., was charged Friday with possession of drug paraphernalia, while Alec W. Berry, 23, of 673 W. Township Road 199, was charged with possession of marijuana.
An officer on bicycle patrol at the Logan County Fair observed Alexis Berry, 128 Plumvalley St., drive through an occupied crosswalk at the Lake Avenue entrance, failing to yield to pedestrians at 11:05 p.m. Friday. The officer followed and initiated a traffic stop at Wilgus and Superior Streets. Other officers soon responded.
The defendants were passengers in the car and officers detected an odor of raw marijuana.
A search of the car found pipes and a small amount of marijuana.
