Alysha E. Ohms, 30, of West Mansfield, was transported by Bokescreek EMS to Memorial Hospital in Marysville for treatment of suspected minor injuries sustained in a crash Friday evening.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report she was operating a westbound 2005 Kawasaki Ex250 In the 11400 block of State Route 47 about 6:30 p.m. when she failed to negotiate a ditch and went off the right side of the road, striking a ditch.
Ohms was cited for failure to control. She was wearing a helmet, deputies report.
Man faces possession of cocaine, conveyance charges
Felix M. Garcia, 35 of Indianapolis, was charged with illegal conveyance of drugs into a detention facility, possession of cocaine, and carrying a concealed weapon related to an incident early Monday morning.
Deputies were dispatched about 12:50 a.m. to the area of Honda of America Mfg. at East Liberty, 11000 State Route 347, East Liberty, in reference to a suspicious man walking in the area. Dispatchers from the Union County Sheriff’s Office were advised the man said a “group of drug dealers were chasing him” and he “ran out of gas.”
Deputies met members of the Honda security team and found Garcia’s vehicle parked in a grassy area near the entrance to the plant.
Deputies located Garcia and said he spoke broken English, so they utilized a translator app to speak with him. He told deputies he did not have any guns, but that he had a knife in his vehicle.
He gave deputies permission to remove the knife from the vehicle. When deputies performed a pat down search of Garcia, they reportedly found a firearm on his waistband, along with bullets in his pocket.
A search of the vehicle yielded a hunting knife, a small samurai sword and several additional bullets.
He was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where he was asked if he had any illegal drugs on his person. He stated that he did not; however, corrections officers later found a dollar bill containing a powder-like substance. The defendant reportedly told corrections officers that the substance was cocaine.
