Nicholas Hershberger, 29, address unavailable, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs as a result of a traffic stop Saturday evening.
Officers of the Russells Point Police Department initiated a traffic stop about 10:30 p.m. after Hershberger reportedly drove his motorcycle through the safety zone at U.S. 33 and State Route 708 and then crossed the double yellow line near Lincoln Boulevard.
While speaking with the motorcyclist, officers noticed signs of impairment. They also noticed fresh wounds covered in dry blood.
Hershberger admitted he wrecked his motorcycle, but claimed it occurred the prior day.
He was asked to submit to field sobriety tests, which he failed. A vape pen containing THC was also recovered from the defendant.
He was placed under arrest and transported to Logan County Jail, where he refused to take a blood alcohol content test. Hershberger has a prior OVI conviction in March 2019.
