Judge Kevin P. Braig and the Logan County Court of Common Pleas Adult Recovery Court Team joined in celebrating the graduation of Ashley Morrison and Danielle Carpenter from the ARC at a ceremony Jan. 24.
Ms. Morrison recognized the rehabilitative programming she received at the West Central Community Based Correctional Facility as instrumental in her recovery. Ms. Carpenter is beginning her second semester of college education this month.
Judge Braig presented each graduate with commemorative “Walk The Line” guitar picks. He presents every ARC graduate with a guitar pick in memory of the help June Carter Cash and the Carter Family provided to country music star Johnny Cash in his battle for sobriety.
Ms. Morrison informed Judge Braig that she will use the pick to play her own guitar.
The Adult Recovery Court works within the framework of the traditional Logan County Common Pleas Court. Its mission is to achieve specific, rehabilitative objectives, including: monitor treatment of ARC participants, encourage and incentivize ARC participants to achieve rehabilitation and personal accountability, and decrease criminal activity and the need for incarceration.
The ARC provides its participants with the support of Judge Braig, Treatment Coordinator and Program Manager Annette Deao, Compliance Officers Jim Pleasant and Mandy Wilber, and treatment providers from TCN Behavioral Health Services, Community Health Wellness, the Justice Reinvestment Grant, local attorneys Natalie Bahan, Gregory Harvey, Peter DeSomma, and others.
All of the ARC Team members share the goals of: empowering ARC participants through treatment, accountability, and responsibility, ; assisting ARC participants in achieving recovery from addiction and helping ARC participants lead useful and productive lives.
“Judge Braig and everyone on the Logan County Court of Common Pleas ARC Team congratulates Ashley and Danielle on this accomplishment and looks forward to seeing them live their best lives,” representatives said.
