An Amish horse and buggy operator and his two passengers were checked at the scene of a crash Tuesday afternoon by Quincy EMS personnel, but were not transported from the scene.
The buggy, operated by David Schwartz, 17, and his two occupants Joseph Schwartz, 21, and Eli Schwartz, 19, each reported minor injuries after the crash about 2:20 p.m.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report John L. Scholz, 55, of Quincy, was operating a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Impala on State Route 47 near County Road 23 when he failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck the westbound buggy.
Scholz did not report any injuries and was wearing his seat belt. He was cited for failure to maintain assured clear distance ahead.
OVI arrest reported following C.R. 34 crash
Autumn A. Adams, 33, of Wapakoneta, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs relating to a non-injury crash about 8:50 p.m. Sunday.
Deputies report she was operating a northbound 2009 Ford Fusion on County Road 34 near Township Road 76 when she drove off the right side of the road into a ditch.
Damage was light to the car.
At the scene, deputies said Adams showed signs of impairment and she admitted to drinking a few shots and a beer several hours before the crash.
After attempting to explain the field sobriety tests and have Adams complete the steps, deputies said she was distracted and unable to follow the directions. She was placed under arrest and transported to the Logan County Jail, where she refused to take a urine test.
The defendant also was charged with possession of marijuana and was cited for failure to control.
Felonious assault case investigated
Deputies were dispatched to a fight at Froggy’s at the Lake on June 18 in which a 37-year-old male victim reported that 10-12 people “jumped him” after a brief altercation. He sustained visible injuries to his eye, but declined EMS transport at that time.
However, deputies said the victim later was treated at Mary Rutan Hospital, where medical staff determined he had a broken eye socket. Suspect(s) are unknown at this time.
