Kris Swisher, left, president of the Logan County Landmark Preservation Inc. board that runs the Holland Theatre provides a brief history of the Dutch atmospheric theater Wednesday to a group of 25 representatives from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business during their tour of Bellefontaine, which concluded with a panel discussion “Mechanics of a Midwestern Community” at Mary Rutan Health Center. The MBA students are participating in a tour of America’s heartland on their spring break. Swisher shared the story and a photo of her Bellefontaine Middle School class of gifted students, “young entrepreneurs” whose public awareness and fundraising efforts helped to save the historic theater in the late 1990s and early 2000s, she said. She also noted that the Dutch-themed murals in the lobby area of the theater were painted by local artist Cassie Hassel. (EXAMINER PHOTO | MANDY LOEHR)
