Faron S. Rouse, 48, of St. Marys, was charged with possession of drugs and possession of drug abuse instruments during a traffic stop Friday evening, during which methamphetamine was recovered.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department on patrol in the area of State Route 235 and State Route 274 about 6:05 p.m. spotted a vehicle traveling northbound on S.R. 235.
The vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and nearly struck the patrol car head on.
Officers immediately initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. While speaking with the female driver, she told officers that her vehicle pulls to the left when she touches her brakes.
A consent search was conducted on the vehicle, and officers recovered a meth pipe, and two separate bags of meth.
Rouse, who was a passenger in the vehicle, admitted to the officers that the items belonged to him. A criminal history check revealed Faron has several felony drug convictions on his record.
He was then transported to the Logan County Jail. The driver was issued a warning for marked lanes violation.
• Matthew Sanders, 30, of Quincy, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs during a traffic stop about 5:10 p.m. Saturday at State Route 235 and County Road 91.
Officers stopped his vehicle for having an expired registration.
While speaking with Sanders, signs of impairment were observed. Sanders submitted was subsequently arrested for OVI.
He refused to submit to a urine test. The defendant also was cited for an expired registration and was released to a sober driver.
A passenger, Timothy Butler, 47, of DeGraff, was cited for open container after open bottles of alcohol were recovered.
