Merriam “Donna” Stout, 86, of West Liberty, formerly of Marysville, passed away peacefully Monday evening, October 24th, 2022, at Green Hills Community Center surrounded by her loving family.
A 1954 graduate of Marysville High School, Donna began her working career as a cosmetologist, owning Merriam’s Beauty Salon on west 5th Street in Marysville. She married the love of her life, Donald R. Stout, on July 3, 1960, at the First Presbyterian Church in Marysville. They shared 62 wonderful and loving years together. In her later years, she worked in accounting for Westreco and retired after over 20 years of service.
Donna was the best cook in the world to her family, and she loved cooking for others. Her made from scratch pies were legendary, and she was also known for her Christmas Cookies, homemade pink applesauce and fried chicken. She enjoyed spending time in her garden not only tending flowers, but also growing and canning vegetables.
She enjoyed traveling with her family, visiting places all over the US from Yellowstone to New England. There was nothing she loved more than being there for her husband, Don, and her family, and she was beyond proud of her grandchildren. They will miss her tremendously.
Donna was born June 3, 1936 in Arcadia, Ohio, to the late Merritt and Bessie (Hutton) Sharf. She was also preceded in death by a loving daughter, Marta Nibert; a beloved granddaughter Courtney Nibert; and siblings Claude Sharf, Marilyn Wilson and Margaret Othrow.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Don; their daughters Margo Shipp and Marilee Stout, both of Marysville; grandchildren Brittany (Mark) Hanby, Royce Shipp and Rachel Shipp; great grandchildren Lexi and Lincoln Hanby; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ingram Funeral Home with Rev. Patricia Stout officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to service time, beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
