Mary Lou Wren, 86, of St. Marys, a former resident of Sidney, passed away at 10:07 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at the Otterbein Retirement Center in St. Marys.
She was born May 23, 1930, in Indianapolis, Ind., a daughter of the late William R.and Nellie L. Pittsenbarger Deubner. On Nov. 16, 1985, she married Burns Wren and he survives in St. Marys.
Also surviving are six children, Shelley (Roy) Moore of Bellefontaine, Marla Presser and Cindy (John) Kalivoda, both of Sidney, Debora (Ed) Knox of Anna, Jeff (Lisa) Wren of Perry and Brad (Beverly) Wren of Jackson Center; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by one son, David A. Hatfield in 1980; one brother, William R. Deubner Jr. in 1980; and one sister, Glenna Babcock in 2016.
She was a former member of the Sidney United Methodist Church and was a UMW officer. She was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church and a Wilson Memorial Hospital Guild volunteer.
A member of Pleiades Chapter of the Order of The Eastern Star, she also was a member of the Gideon’s and Ladies Shrine of Antioch Shrine Center. She loved to travel and spend time with her family and was proud of the fact that she and Burns had traveled to all 50 states in the U.S.A.
The Rev. Vernon Allison officiates at a funeral service beginning at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, in Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave. Sidney, where calling is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 5. Burial follows in Glen Cemetery in Port Jefferson.
