Mary L. Roby, 84, of Bellefontaine, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 29, 2018, at Green Hills Care Center.
She was born in DeGraff on April 8, 1934, to Emmett and Edna Strong Roby, who preceded her in death. Mary was also preceded in death by three brothers, Willis Roby, Alvin Roby and Norman Roby.
Mary graduated from Jackson Center High School in the Class of 1952. She was a 1955 graduate of nurses’ training from Memorial Hospital in Lima. She then went to Bible School at Taylor University in Upland, Ind. While she was there, she worked in Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ind. She was the night supervisor at Paulding Hospital for several years. After moving to Bellefontaine, she worked at Green Hills Nursing Home and retired from there in 1995. Mary attended the First Church of God after returning to the Bellefontaine area.
Mary is survived by one sister, LaDema (Warren) VanGundy of Wapakoneta; a special friend, Marion Palmer of Bellefontaine; nephews, Mike (Charlotte) Roby of Bellefontaine and Rick (Belinda) VanGundy of Lima; a niece, Debra Badertscher of St. Marys; a special friend, Biddy Oliver of Huntsville; a sister-in-law, Bernice Roby of Bellefontaine; three foster brothers, Bob (Betsy) Shoffstall, Tim (Sherry) Shoffstall and Kenneth (Roxanne) Shoffstall, all of Lakeview; and a number of other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pastor Ray Headings officiates the funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, following visitation beginning at 11 a.m. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.
