Mary Elizabeth Shawver Foulk, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2016, at the Thomas P. Perciak Family Residential Hospice of Southwest General, Strongsville.
Mary was born in Bellefontaine on Feb. 17, 1933, to the late Theodore and Ethlyn Rowe Spurlock. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Joseph Donahue; her first husband, Robert Shawver, whom she married in 1952 and who died in 1968; her second husband, Charles J. Foulk, whom she married in 1972 and who passed away in 2001; a daughter, Beverly Ann Smith; twin sister, Margaret Blackwell; and eldest sister, Genevieve Patrick.
Mary is survived by her son, Steven A. (Mary) Shawver of Strongsville; a son-in-law, Frank Smith of Bellefontaine; grandchildren, Tricia (Jerry) Sharp of Brunswick, Gayle (Kevin) Hughes of Austin, Texas, Josiah (Johanna) Smith of Sterling, Va., and Emily Smith of Westerville; 10 great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Judy (Doug) Bowen of Kenton, Michael (Diana) Foulk and Kenneth (Teresa) Foulk, both of Bellefontaine, and Kevin (Tanya) Foulk of Prospect; several stepgrandchildren; nieces, Vicki Maxson, Cynthia Moore, Carolyn Trout, Joanne Victor, Julia Saylor and Brenda Mosey; and a nephew, Rob Patrick.
Mary was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Bellefontaine where she was an Elder Emeritus and a Stephen Minister. She worked many years at Mary Rutan Hospital and in several medical offices in her later years. After retiring, Mary returned to Mary Rutan Hospital as a volunteer for 10 years.
Mary loved her family and her many friends.
Calling is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Bellefontaine, followed by a funeral service officiated by Pastor F. Michael Valentine. Burial is at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty.
