Marjorie J. Hittepole, 93, of DeGraff, passed away at 11:58 a.m., Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty.
She was born April 3, 1926, in Logan County, a daughter of the late Louis E. and Leota Nevers Spain. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry K. Hittepole; four brothers, Roy, Gerald, Donald, and Lawrence Spain; sister, Lena Spain Jackson; and great-grandson, Tate Lane.
On July 2, 1945, Marjorie married Ray O. Hittepole in Houston, Texas, and he preceded her in death in June, 2013. She is survived by two daughters, Ginny (Randy) Myers of Bellefontaine, and Peggy (Don) Wohlgamuth of Baroda, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Shari (Todd) Martin, Jill Kelsey, Ryan (Jennifer) Myers, Andrew (Heidi) Myers, Craig (Lindsey) Wohlgamuth, Cory Wohlgamuth, and Chris Wohlgamuth; 13 great-grandchildren, Tyler (Nick), Tanner, Dylan, Kelsey, Logan, Rhett, Landon, Leah, Marley, Sammy, Gabe, Kolton, and Kaleb; and great-great-grandchild, Sloan; sister in law, Janet Spain; brother in law, Erle (Connie) Loffer; and many nieces and nephews including a special niece, JoEtta, who, “is the glue that holds the Spain family together.”
She was a 1945 graduate of DeGraff High School. She was a homemaker, and worked many years at the DeGraff Variety Store; was an active member of the DeGraff United Methodist Church; a past Worthy Matron of the former Constance Chapter #78 O.E.S., in DeGraff; and a member of the Bellefontaine Chapter #459 O.E.S.
Per Marjorie’s wishes, she was cremated and there will not be a funeral service. A private graveside service will be conducted at the convenience of the family at the Greenwood-Union Cemetery in DeGraff.
