Margel Sue Day, 76, of West Liberty, entered into the presence of her Savior Thursday, April 6, 2017, in OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, following complications from surgery.
She was born April 24, 1940, in Bellefontaine, a daughter of the late Robert Glen and Ruby Eileen Hubbard Baker.
She was a 1958 graduate of Belle Center High School and had worked over the years first as a beautician, then at T-P Lanes and in the offices at Heartland of Urbana, and Brandt & Moell Law Office.
She was a long-time member of Grace Chapel Church in West Liberty, a member of several bridge clubs including one in West Liberty for decades, and a fervent supporter of the activities of her children and grandchildren.
Margel’s Christian faith was the rudder that guided her and kindness and gratitude were her gentle wake. She clung daily to the hope of the cross and was a faithful reminder that grace extended was always a more fragrant aroma. Friends and family are better for having known her and the memories she helped create will be greatly treasured.
Survivors include her husband, John Day, whom she married July 3, 1960, in Belle Center, her children, Ken Day, Susan (Lynn) Karg and Steve (Jauneth) Day, all of West Liberty, and Sandra (Marvin) Ober, of Cable; seven grandchildren, Courtney (Dailon) Checkler of Columbus, Conner Karg, Caylee Karg, Taylor Day and Kelsey Day, all of West Liberty, and Dayna Ober and Jenna Ober, both of Cable; a sister, Miriam (Jim) Baier of Huntsville; brother- and sisters-in-law, Karen Baker of Delaware, Ohio, and Jim and Dolores Day of Buckeye Lake; and nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by brothers, John A. Baker and James W. Baker.
Per her request, Margel was cremated. Visitation is Friday, April 14, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Grace Chapel Church, 500 Linden St., West Liberty, with a memorial service beginning at 6 p.m. and dinner immediately following.
