Margaret “Sue” Zell, 83, of Zanesfield, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at Logan Acres Care Center, Bellefontaine.
She was born in DeGraff, on Oct. 4, 1936, the daughter of the late Herbert and Margaret (Huber) Young.
On Sept. 25, 1955, she married Kerryn Zell and he preceded her in death on April 4, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; Jean Smith and Harold “Jim” Young and a grandson, Desmond Huff.
She is survived by her four daughters; Candy (Dale) Barney, Cathy (Brian) Elliott, Cindy (Ora Chamberlain) Zell and Christy Zell, 10 grandchildren; Carey (Aaron Carpenter) Taylor, Dori (Kimsey) Kennedy, Jobe Barney, Heather (Kevin) Butler, Holly (Jon) Culp, David (Tiera) Huff, Derrick (Taylor Boeckel) Huff, Garrett Rose, Lacey Rose, and Weston Rose, 12 great grandchildren; Karli, Cami, Rachel, Snapper, Elliott, Greyson, Wyatt, Olive, David Jr., Rylee, Daija, and Davian, one great-great step granddaughter, Karlee, a sister; Elizabeth “Betty” Woodcock, a sister-in-law, Wilma Young, and a dear niece, Jerri King.
Sue had a green thumb and took pride in growing a huge garden each year. She would can and freeze food to have all winter long.
Sue was a lady of many talents. She could sing, play the piano, paint, draw, and do just about anything around the house. She was a beautiful seamstress. Her daughters wore many match alike outfits she made when they were younger, and she also made may baby and Barbie Doll clothes. As her daughters grew, she sewed many cheerleading skirts, homecoming, and prom dresses. She also made clothes for the grandchildren. When arthritis set in and made it difficult for her to sew, she continued to crochet afghans and enjoyed doing paint by numbers. She also owned “The Cup” restaurant in the 1970’s.
Visitation will be Monday, June 15, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main Street, Bellefontaine, OH 43311. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Zanesfield Cemetery.
