Margaret Ellen “Muggy” Stringer, 91, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 17, 2018, at Green Hills Care Center. She was born in Bellefontaine on Nov. 16, 1926, to the late Herbert Henry and Margaret Lucille English Keagy. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Henry; brother-in-law Carl Henry; son-in-law, Michael L. Davis; and two great-grandchildren.
Muggy was a 1944 graduate of Bellefontaine High School. She was a commissioned clerk at Merchant Industries and retired in 1992 A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Muggy was also active with the Catholic Ladies of Columbia She loved to take walks, go to Dollar General, spend time in her garden, and collect rocks. Muggy was a non-judgemental person and enjoyed her grandchildren, always slipping money to them. “Grandma Strings” was a special person and will be missed by many.
Muggy is survived by her daughters, Susan D. (Sam) Sheeley and Sandra E. (Mike) Arbogast, both of Bellefontaine; seven grandchildren, Troy Stringer, Rebecca (Dallas) Dixon, Adam (Brenna) Sheeley, Michael (Lona) Davis Jr., Heather (Lanny Neff) Sheeley, Matthew Davis and Meggan (Rick) Eubanks; three step-grandchildren, Melissa McKee, Robert Sheeley and Shannon (Nancy) Sheeley; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and five nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 21, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 316 E. Patterson Ave., Bellefontaine, where calling begins at 10 a.m. Father Shawn Landenwitch officiates and burial is in Calvary Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, 700 Children’s Drive, Columbus, OH 43205.
