Margaret Ann Hoenie, 91, of Huntsville, died at her Indian Lake home on Friday, March 5, 2021.
“Marge” was born on Jan. 28, 1930 in Coldwater, to the late Joseph Albert and Leona (Birkmeyer) Volz. She as preceded in death by brothers, Jack, Joe, and Jim, and a sister, Berta Reichert.
She is survived by eight children, David Hoenie, Ann (Dave) Norckauer, Mary (Cy) Moore, Carol (Jeff) Green, Peggy (Mark) Wilson, Jane (Jeff Amlin) Dockery, Therese (Glenn) Hilker, and Judy (Bob) Silva, 32 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren.
Marge served others as a wife, mother, and grandmother; as a champion for the poor; and as a Christian.
As the beloved wife of Cliff Hoenie, Marge assisted her husband in his work as they traveled the world when Cliff pitched employee-motivation packages to businesses, and Marge hosted events to engage clients during off-hours. Anyone who knows Marge experienced her gift as a generous hostess.
Raising her eight children, Marge stretched every nickel. She was a creative, talented seamstress, having made her daughters’ wedding dresses, dozens of bridesmaid and prom dresses, winter coats, and everyday wear for her children. She reupholstered furniture and made beautiful draperies. Her projects kept her interested in life, even after the passing of the love of her life in July 2016.
For 40+ years, Marge volunteered for St. Vincent de Paul, first in Dayton and then at Indian Lake, where she served as President and as a volunteer. Marge lived and loved her faith. She evangelized through action, word, and prayer, and attended daily Mass for over 30 years. Marge Hoenie had a profound impact on many people as she taught us how to live and die with courage and faith.
