Mardell Godwin, 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 1:22 p.m. on Monday, January 10, 2022, in The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
She was born in Logan County, Ohio on April 2, 1941, the daughter of the late John and Margaret Losey. She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Christina Carver, a brother, David, and a grandson.
On September 5, 1959, she married Fred William Godwin and he preceded her in death on August 12, 2015.
She is survived by four children: Wesley (Stephanie) Godwin of Bellefontaine, April Sutliffe of Bradenton, FL, Lisa (Mike) Slagle of Roundhead, and Dale Godwin of Bellefontaine, 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren; two sisters, June and Martha, three brothers, Max, Carroll, and Carmin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mardell worked for H & H Electric before going to work for Siemen’s in Bellefontaine, from where she retired. She was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bellefontaine and loved to read her Bible. She also enjoyed going on walks, crocheting, and loved to spend time with her family. She was a very caring and giving lady who was always doing for others.
Pastor Jeffory Willetts will officiate a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, January 14, in the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Visitation will be Thursday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Zanesfield Cemetery.
