A Russells Point man succumbed to injuries this morning that he sustained Thursday evening after he reportedly fell from a moving vehicle.
Larry Powers, 44, was pronounced dead at 7:35 a.m. today at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Deputies report he was a passenger in a northbound car operated by Teresa Cole, 43, of Russells Point, on Township Road 95 near State Route 274 about 9:10 p.m. Thursday.
Powers reportedly had been sitting in the window frame of the moving vehicle while the window was open, despite Cole’s requests that he not sit there.
The driver said Powers fell backward out of the car that was traveling approximately 40 to 45 mph and struck a ditch. She immediately called 911.
Cole reported that the pair had been at a family member’s residence in Bellefontaine that evening and that Powers had been drinking. The driver did not show any signs of intoxication, deputies said.
Powers was transported from the scene by Huntsville squad to Mary Rutan Hospital, and then was flown by MedFlight helicopter to the Columbus hospital.
