Christopher J. Long, 19, of Defiance, was charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest related to an incident Saturday morning at 11900 County Road 97, lot 14, Lakeview.
Deputies were dispatched to the residence about 11:50 a.m. on a report of a man destroying the caller’s residence and making threats.
Upon deputies arrival, they were flagged down by Long, who told deputies that he had issues with his mother, Melissa Long, at the residence that day and had “accidentally” bumped over a large Christmas tree when attempting to pick up his 3-month-old daughter’s bassinet. He said he wanted to head back to his home in Defiance.
Ms. Long told deputies that her son had been arguing and threatening with his girlfriend at the home that morning and she did not feel it was safe for his girlfriend and the baby to travel with him to Defiance. Long then reportedly became angry and grabbed the Christmas tree and threw it on the floor, his mother said.
Deputies observed debris on the floor from the tree, suggesting that it had recently been tipped over.
The defendant at first resisted deputies’ commands when he was placed under arrest and did not comply until he was threatened with a Taser. He was lodged in the jail.
Crash leads to OVI physical control charge
Greggory S. Armbruster, 39, of 20 N. Boggs St., DeGraff, was charged with having physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs related to a crash Friday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a southbound sport utility vehicle on County Road 21 near County Road 13 when he traveled off the west side of the road and ramped up a driveway and then continued southbound on the roadside before re-entering the road and coming to a rest facing east on the east side of the road.
Damage was heavy to the SUV, which was towed from the scene.
Deputies initially were dispatched to the area of 4905 County Road 21, DeGraff, on a report of a vehicle in a field and a man standing outside of the vehicle who appeared to be intoxicated.
When deputies arrived at the scene, Armbruster was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Deputies observed that he displayed signs of intoxication and that his lips were bloodied and swollen and abrasions to his forehead. He refused deputies’ offers to call a squad to the scene.
He refused to take field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. At the Logan County Jail, he also refused to take a chemical test. He also was cited for failure to control.
