Rakeem L. Jones, 27, of 1000 Garfield Ave., Lot 80, was charged Tuesday with domestic violence after he allegedly choked Casey Reinhart, of the same address, during a struggle over a book bag containing a video game system and a laptop.
Jones claimed he was trying to leave when Reinhart grabbed at the book bag and struggle ensued. Reinhart said the game system and laptop belong to her son and she did not want Jones to leave with the devices.
She sustained visible injuries to her throat, upper chest, right elbow and upper right arm.
Jones was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
Motorist charged with OVI
Valerie J. Emery, 45, of 6553 Findlay St., Huntsville, was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs after she backed a sport utility vehicle over a retaining wall at 803 S. Main St. and became stuck around 10:05 p.m. Monday.
An officer of the Bellefontaine Police Department arrived on scene and observed Emery outside the vehicle, unsteady on her feet and stumbling backwards. He detected an odor of alcohol on her breathe and other visible signs of impairment.
She refused to participate in sobriety tests but confirmed she had consumed alcohol. The officer noted she passed out on a bench at the department’s offices while waiting for a ride home.
A half-empty bottle of vodka was found on the floorboard of the rear passenger area.
Records indicate Emery has multiple alcohol-related driving suspensions. She was issued traffic citations for failure to control and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Driver cited for reckless operation
Chase A. Snyder, 21, of Bellefontaine, was cited for reckless operation after he claimed he fell asleep Monday and the car he was driving nearly hit construction workers in the 800 block of east Sandusky Avenue.
Multiple workers at the site reported jumping out of the way as the car careened toward them around 3:50 p.m., hitting traffic cones along the way.
Officers stopped traffic on Sandusky so that the car could be pulled from a ditch and towed away.
