Daniel P. Oakley, 33, of Lakeview, was charged with disrupting public services related to an incident Friday, Dec. 23.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office responded about 1 p.m. to 415 Union St., Lakeview, on a report of a domestic dispute.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke with Oakley and his live-in girlfriend. They observed that Oakley had a small laceration on his left eyelid, and that his girlfriend had a bruise on her right eye and blood that was drying on her lips.
Oakley told deputies that the pair had been arguing that a morning, but that it was “just the usual stuff they argue about.”
Deputies also spoke with the girlfriend in another room, separate from Oakley. She stated that Oakley had been physically abusing her for several days and that she had been hit with a spray bottle and a roll of tape, and also smacked in the face multiple times, gesturing toward her black eye and busted lip.
Deputies photographed her facial injuries, along with a welt on her back between her shoulders, where she had been hit with the spray bottle, and on her leg, where there reportedly was an imprint from the roll of tape.
Oakley’s girlfriend said he usually allowed her to call her mother when they argued and then she would come and pick her up. However, when she called her mother this time, he allegedly took her phone away from her.
Deputies placed the defendant under arrest and he was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
A report also was sent to the Logan County Prosecutor’s Office for an additional charge of domestic violence.
Officers of the Washington Township Police Department also assisted at the scene.
Aggravated menacing charges filed
Aaron W. Johnson, 33, of 202 E. Buckeye St., Belle Center, was charged with aggravated menacing and resisting arrest and lodged in the jail related to an incident at his home Wednesday, Dec. 21.
Deputies initially responded about 2:30 p.m. to Logan County Children’s Services to speak with a child protective services worker regarding the incident at Johnson’s residence. The employee stated that Johnson had threatened to harm her if she removed a child from the home.
The child’s grandfather, Richard Johnson, 60, of the same address, also allegedly verbally threatened the LCCS employee.
Deputies responded to the Belle Center home, and spoke with Johnson, who denied making any threats, but said he was willing to die for his child. Deputies attempted to place him under arrest, but he began to struggle with deputies. He reportedly stopped resisting when deputies said a Taser would be deployed if he didn’t comply.
Johnson was not home at that time, so deputies issued a warrant for his arrest for aggravated menacing.
