Robert L. Monroe, 52, of 123 W. High Ave., was charged Wednesday with theft.
Staff at Dollar General, 308 N. Main St., reported he was suspected of stealing goods on several occasions. The store staff also provided a license plate number for the suspect’s car.
They told officers of the Bellefontaine Police Department the suspect allegedly uses a self-scanning checkout register to record one item while bagging several unscanned items. He then pays for the scanned goods but walks out with paid and unpaid items.
Officers viewed still photographs from the store’s video surveillance system which matched up with Monroe’s photo on file with the Ohio’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Monroe was found at his residence and admitted to the thefts, telling officers he steals for the thrill of it.
He was arrested and lodged in the Logan County Jail.
• Richard B. Weeks, 51, of 850 Bonnie Lane, Apt. 716, was charged Thursday with domestic violence.
He allegedly argued with Ashley Hanson, of the same address, around 12:10 a.m. and poked her left eye, leaving a red mark and bruising under the eye.
Hanson left the residence and contacted officers at a gas station.
Weeks was found inside, taken into custody and lodged in jail.
