David C. Bradley, 40, of Lakeview, was charged with public intoxication related to an incident Thursday evening at the Hopewell railroad crossing on U.S. Route 68 just north of Bellefontaine.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area about 10 p.m. in reference to a man who was walking very close to the roadway.
Bradley was located walking in the northbound lane of travel of U.S. 68, and deputies observed that he was intoxicated. He told deputies that he had slept in the woods the previous evening, and that he was now attempting to walk to a friend’s residence.
Deputies attempted to contact Bradley’s friend and also a family member to arrange for transportation for him.
Other arrangements could not be made, so deputies placed him under arrest, citing safety concerns.
Deputies said the defendant began making threats against them while en route to the jail.
Once at the jail, deputies also found that he had defecated himself while inside the patrol vehicle.
