• Jeffrey L. Newland, 56, of 355 N. Oak St., Apt. B, Lakeview, was charged with OVI and cited for reckless operation after an 11:55 p.m. traffic stop Friday.
An officer on patrol observed the northbound motorist nearly stop for a green light at Main Street and Sandusky Avenue and then drive through the right turn only lane at Main and Rush Avenue to continue northward.
He was observed weaving on the ramp from Main onto U.S. Route 33 westbound. Once on the highway, he began to aggressively weave side-to-side crossing over the center line.
The officer initiated a stop and approached the driver’s side. Newland rolled down the rear passenger window rather than the driver’s window.
He told officers a female passenger was nagging at him and he was tired of it. In anger, he began aggressively weaving on U.S. 33 to stop the nagging.
An odor of alcohol was detected by the officer while talking with Newland. Field sobriety tests indicated he was impaired and he submitted a breathalyzer sample of 0.139.
