John Engle, 48, of Belle Center, was transported by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus for incapacitating injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.
Deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report he was operating a northbound ATV about 5:25 p.m. on Center Street in the village of Belle Center. He reportedly attempted to make a left turn onto School Street and his ATV overturned.
The ATV operator was not wearing a helmet, and alcohol is suspected as a possible factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, deputies said.
Mr. Engle was listed in stable condition at the hospital about 9 p.m. Sunday, deputies noted.

Frank J. Barnes, 35, of 504 Woodview Drive, Bellefontaine, was charged with assault, domestic violence and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle Saturday after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and left her on the side of the road.
Deputies responded about 2 a.m. to a residence at 4325 W. State Route 47, Bellefontaine, where the home owner reported that a woman had come to her door and said she had been assaulted.
The victim, Ashley Defibaugh, 26, told deputies that her live-in boyfriend Mr. Barnes had assaulted her.
She reported that she picked him up at a friend’s residence in Bellefontaine, and the pair began to argue while in her vehicle. Ms. Defibaugh said he then grabbed the steering wheel and tried to push the gas pedal while she was driving.
She was able to stop by the vehicle near the 4325 W. S.R. 47 residence, and then he allegedly pulled her by her hair and drug her out of the vehicle. After leaving her in the ditch, the defendant reportedly left the area in her vehicle.
Deputies observed that Ms. Defibaugh had visible injuries, including blood on her elbow, knee and on the back of her ankles and a scrape to her chest.
Mr. Barnes was located a short time later during a traffic stop on S.R. 47 near Township Road 33. He was driving his vehicle and would not tell deputies the location of Ms. Defibaugh’s vehicle. Her vehicle was located on Pratt Street in Bellefontaine later that day.
He was lodged in the Logan County Jail.
