A Rushsylvania man was killed in a crash Tuesday evening in Rushsylvania after his vehicle struck a utility pole, a wire fence and a parked vehicle, deputies of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office report.
Brent Arthur Marshall Whitaker, 44, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing his seat belt and was the lone occupant of the vehicle, according to the crash report.
Deputies report he was operating a northbound car on south Sandusky Street in the village about 6:25 p.m. when he crossed the center line and then went off the left side of the road, striking a utility pole.
The car then continued through a yard in the area of 232 S. Sandusky St. and struck a wire fence, and then struck a parked, unoccupied pickup owned by Christopher Miller of Rushsylvania.
The impact sent the pickup into a parked, unoccupied motorcycle owned by Scott Davis of Rushsylvania.
Rushcreek EMS also responded and transported Whitaker’s body to Mary Rutan Hospital.
Damage was heavy to Whitaker’s vehicle, which was towed from the scene. Heavy damage also was reported to the pickup and light damage was reported to the motorcycle.
Deputies continue their investigation. This is the third fatal crash in Logan County this year.
